When
Carrie asks, “why’d you get a black diamond?”, Mr. Big replied, “because you’re
not like anyone else”.
So, why black diamonds?
Black diamonds embody strength, elegance, power, and love, and are very mysterious and exquisite jewels. This symbolism match and compliment a strong, confident woman.
Black diamond, due to their one-of-a-kind colour, are some of rarest gems in the world. Although white diamonds have been the common choice for decades, black diamonds are the new must-have. They are a unique and elegant gem choice for any piece of jewellery.

Black diamonds are also known as carbonados diamonds. These rare diamonds, instead of reflective light, absorb it so their beauty comes from their polished surface like marble.

Although other diamonds are found in different parts of the world, black diamonds have only been found in two – Brazil and Central Africa. Bear in mind that these two pieces of land were adjacent in prehistoric times, which tells us they were originally from one place. Black diamonds are unique also because they are located only in alluvial deposits created by a river or other natural water sources.
While it is known how other diamonds form, black
diamonds are very mysterious, and nobody knows for sure. The origin of natural
black diamonds has long been a geological puzzle, and experts have been baffled
for decades because they seem not to follow any mineralogy rules.
Although all diamonds are known for their hardness and durability, black diamonds are the toughest of all. Till black diamonds became popular in jewellery were being used for different purposes due to their durability. Graded as a 10 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, it is very difficult to cut and polish a black diamond and can take up to one year. It is because they have an odd mix of carbon and graphite atoms. So, if you have a black diamond, you can appreciate the time, dedication and patience that gone into making your unique black masterpiece!
